Hello! Welcome to her grace diary. I am super excited that you made it to my first blog post. Thank you.
Perhaps you are wondering why this blog is named “Her Grace Diary” and the reason for its existence. I am about to tell you.
“Her grace diary” is a testament to the healing power of God. It is proof of the love and mercy of God toward me – a “memoir” of the goodness and grace of God. I have experienced the wonder-working power of God. And that’s why I want to share a summary of my testimony with you so you have a better understanding of what this is all about. Are you ready? Here we go.
On the 5th of April 2017, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour: a “pituitary microadenoma” (the tumour was located on the pituitary gland). It was the most devastating news I ever received in my life. My first emotion after receiving such information was fear. The devil fed me with many lies and I wondered at that moment if there was any hope or the possibility of me being well again.
You see, before the diagnosis, I had already suffered major symptoms that impaired my vision, primarily because the tumour was compressing my optic nerves. The symptoms included:
- Double vision: This was because each eye was looking at a different direction and created its own image of the environment.
- Peripheral vision loss: I didn’t have a normal, wide-angle field of vision, I could only see things within “a straight line” but wasn’t able to see things on my sides.
- Transient blindness to one eye (a temporal loss of vision).
I had other symptoms too but that’s a story for another day.
Pituitary tumours often go undiagnosed because their symptoms resemble those of other medical conditions. So it took over two months and a minimum of five visits to the hospital before it was discovered. In my case, it was the major symptoms listed above that led to the diagnosis. The diagnosis came late in my opinion.
As if that wasn’t enough, a few days later I received more shocking news. I was told I had early osteoarthritis, lumbar spondylosis, osteoporosis, etc. Too much to handle right? You can say that again.
So there I was, partially blind, unable to walk without being helped, dizzy all the time, weak, depressed and very tired because I had given birth to my second son barely five months before the diagnosis. I was angry, confused, afraid, broken and in constant pain. Oh, there were times I feared that I was going to die and leave my husband, my two beautiful boys and family behind.
There were two treatment options for me:
- Radiation therapy and hormone treatment. Or
- Endoscopic pituitary surgery. Endoscopic surgery is performed through the nose to remove tumours from the pituitary and is usually necessary if the tumour is pressing on the optic nerves
The neurologist I saw informed us that there were no ENT surgeons in my country with specialized training in endoscopic sinus surgery at that time. Candidates would have to travel abroad to have the surgery performed.
I needed a miracle fast because the treatments were going to take a long time and it could take some time to gather funds to travel for the surgery if it came to that. The clock was ticking and the treatment options seemed tough
God had mercy on me and miraculously healed me of every disorder, against all odds and most importantly in the nick of time. He not only heal me but also restored every organ, cell, muscle and tissue that was affected by the tumour. God saved my life from destruction and made me completely whole despite my “shaky faith” and shortcomings. I didn’t go through any surgery or radiation therapy. That I got healed was purely because of the grace and mercy of God.
Curious to know how my healing took place?
I will share the continuation of my testimony and the entire journey soon and also share all that the Lord taught me through that life-changing experience.
Did my healing manifest instantly? No. It was a tough and long journey. But God was and has been faithful.
Therefore, I dedicate “Her Grace Diary” to my almighty and loving Father, my Lord Jesus and the sweet Holy Spirit. If not for the grace and mercy of God, I probably would be blind today. If not for His grace, I won’t be able to start a blog. Why? Because there was a time during the illness that my memory waned. It was so bad that I began to call my first son “Moses”. If you know me, you will know that that is not my son’s name. Lol.
I forgot a lot!
So, that I can write something you can read, that makes sense, is because of the grace of God upon my life. I can see just fine, walk, jump, run and wear heels again. All these are because of the love and mercy of God towards me. God has indeed been gracious to me.
I’m forever grateful to Him. Grateful to be alive and well again. I’m overwhelmed by the grace and love of God. Therefore, I will forever praise His name and magnify Him with thanksgiving. I will glorify Him for He has done wondrous things for me.
Do you see why this blog is named “Her Grace Diary”?
IF HE DID IT FOR ME, HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU TOO
Are you sick or going through some kind of affliction? Do you think your situation is “beyond salvation”? Here is a word for you:
Just as the Lord healed me, He can and will heal you too. Only believe! Trust in Him and he shall bring it to pass. It doesn’t matter how bad your diagnosis is or how agonizing the pain is. You have a heavenly Father that is full of love and compassion. He is merciful and wants you whole. He will preserve you, cancel the will of the enemy and strengthen you.
Nothing is too hard for God!
I’d like to conclude this post by reminding you that this is just a summary of my testimony. I will tell you about my long road to recovery, practical steps i took and share important life lessons I learnt along the way soon. I am here to provide any information that will be helpful, especially to anyone that has or is recovering from pituitary microadenoma. You can write your comments below as well.
